According to Akron police,22-year-oldKendall Scheidgrabbed a knife and stabbed 23-year-old Duncan Unternaher in the chest during an argument over fast food at their Grant Street apartment. In a 911 call, a third roommate said both students were highly intoxicated. The caller said he needed an ambulance because his roommate stabbed his other roommate. “They are in the bathroom,” he told the dispatcher. “He is keeping pressure on the wound, trying to keep him elevated.” Akron police say Unternaher was transported to Summa Akron City Hospital where he died from his injuries around 5:55 p.m. according to the Akron Medical Examiner’s office. However, the Akron chapter ofPhi Delta Theta posted on Facebook that the student died on Sunday after being “placed on lung and heart assistance machines where he courageously battled for his life.” The University of Akron American Marketing Association also posted on Facebook, saying thatUnternaher had died. The University of Akron released this statement regarding the incident: The University of Akron community is deeply saddened by this tragedy. University officials, including UA President Matthew Wilson, have been with his family and friends since the incident became known.
